On Sunday, March 17, 2019, Petronilo Portillo, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away at the age of 88. Petronilo’s priority has always been his wife and kids. He always made sure his family was provided for and taken care of. At the age of 18 he started working as a sailor, he worked on cargo ships, and he traveled around the world. At the age of 50, Petronilo came to the United States in hopes to provide a better life for his family. In New York, he worked in housing Authority and everyone loved him. He was kind to everyone and made sure to become friends with those he came across. He was known as “Papi” and loved by many people. Petronilo was one of the most hardworking people you will ever meet, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Petronilo had a passion for boats and sailing. He also was a huge soccer fanatic. He spent his leisure time in his childhood and younger age playing on soccer teams in Honduras. At an older age, he would help referee the town’s league soccer games. He was also known for his humorous personality. He would always manage to put a smile on your face. In 2009, Petronilo accepted Jesus as his lord and savior. He was baptized the summer of 2010 in Staten Island, N.Y. He loved going to church and he served as an usher at Circle Of Love Fellowship Church in Staten Island. He loved to tell people about the God that saved him from a hurricane in the middle of the ocean when he was a sailor.
He is survived by his wife, Jesus; children, Leticia, Nora, Liliana, Maribel, Herbert, Ellaine; and many extended family and friends.

El domingo 17 de marzo de 2019, Petronilo Portillo, esposo amoroso, padre, abuelo, tio, y amigo falleció a la edad de 88 años. La prioridad de Petronilo siempre ha sido su esposa y sus hijos. Él siempre se aseguró de que su familia fuera provista y atendida. A la edad de 18 años comenzó a trabajar como marinero, trabajó en barcos de carga y viajó por todo el mundo. Siempre se las arreglaba para poner una sonrisa en tu cara. En 2009, Petronilo aceptó a Jesucristo como su señor y Salvador. Fue bautizado el verano de 2010 en Staten Island, NY. Le encantaba ir a la iglesia y fue ujier en la iglesia Circle Of Love Fellowship en Staten Island. Le encantaba contarle a la gente sobre el Dios que lo salvó de un huracán en el medio del océano cuando era marinero.
Le sobreviven su esposa, Jesús; niños, Leticia, Nora, Liliana, Maribel, Herbert, Ellaine; y muchos familiares y amigos.
