December 22, 1982 – July 27, 2025
It is with profound sorrow and great love that we announce the passing of Ricky Dale Anderson, affectionately known as “The Hornet”—or simply just Coach Rick—who was called up to heaven at the age of 42 on July 27, 2025. He was a man whose spirit left an indelible mark on every field he stood on and every heart he touched.
Born on December 22, 1982, Rick was larger than life in the baseball community—respected, revered, and deeply loved. He lived and breathed the game, playing collegiate baseball at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, where he also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business. Rick’s love for the game never faded, and his legacy lives on in every player who ever had the honor of wearing a uniform for him.
But even more than the game, Rick loved his people. He was fiercely loyal, incredibly tough, and yet carried a gentle heart that made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.
Rick was devoted to his family above all else. He treasured his beloved wife, Heather—his soulmate and best friend—and took pride in every moment spent with his three boys, Knox (9), Kane (7), and Kruz (5). Whether on the field, at home, or in the stands cheering them on, Rick was present with his whole heart.
Professionally, Rick served as the General Manager of Atlantech Distribution, Inc., where he was admired for his leadership, work ethic, and integrity.
Rick is survived by his loving wife Heather; his sons, Knox, Kane, and Kruz; and his mother, Joan Anderson. He was preceded in death by his father, Rick Anderson, and his grandparents, Dominick and Antoinette Sacco, as well as Merle and June Anderson.
A funeral service for Ricky will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 3315 South Bryan Road, Brandon, Florida. Interment to follow in Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 West Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
Rick’s legacy is one of strength, love, and unwavering commitment. His laughter, his passion, and his presence will be missed beyond measure—but his spirit will live on in every swing of the bat, every word of encouragement, and every story told by those who loved him.
