Rosie was born in Mansfield, Ohio, on March 7, 1922. She was the third of 14 children born to the late Anthony and Lovisa Dobbins, and wife of her beloved husband of 54 years, Walter Wayne Myers who predeceased her by 21 years.
Rosie moved to Florida with Walt on a 2 week vacation in 1945 and stayed. She proudly said that she had lived in Florida so many years that she was a “native Floridian”. While in her later life, she was a florist, Rosie’s dream job was to be a wife and a mother. Not only was she Mama to her three children, she was Aunt Rosie to numerous nephews and nieces and Miz Myers to a multitude of neighborhood children and teenagers. When her grandchildren began to bring friends home, everyone knew her as “Gram”. Rosie and Walt’s home was always filled with children’s laughter, love and compassion.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her; children, Lawrence Douglas Myers, Karen Rose Myers Kanter, and Gale Wayne Myers; grandchildren, Richard Douglas Myers, Tricia Lynn Myers Charles, Jennifer Lynne Kanter, David Wayne Kanter, Alma Wayne Myers, Michael Moroni Myers, Grant Helaman Myers and Angel Christiane Myers Disparte; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by granddaughter, Sariah Bernadette Myers, and by great-granddaughter, Athena Rose Disparte. She also leaves behind her loving sister Antonia “Tiny” Pope and brother Timothy Dobbins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and dozens of children of her heart.
