Rosa Yearwood was born on November 15th 1955 to parents Thelma Jolivette and Joseph Calvin Dural. After graduating from Cecilia High School, she went on to study nursing at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now known as The University of Louisiana), and later received her degree at Saint Leo University. She also taught English at Delta College in Lafayette, Louisiana. While attending USL she met her first husband and soon after she had her eldest son, Henry “Ray” Harris Jr. She loved being a mother so much, she wanted another child which she hoped would be a girl but instead was blessed with another son, Jonathan Harris. Rosa, being the determined woman that she was, gravitated to her brother’s (Joseph Wallace Dural) only child, Kimberly Ann Malveaux, as the daughter she did not have. She dedicated all her life to being a great mother, not just to her children, but all children she came across.
In 1994, she met her wonderful husband David Yearwood Jr. They wed in 2004 and inherited more children. Her husband had three sons: Eduardo Yearwood, Kwazi Yearwood and David “Hombre” Yearwood III.
After retiring in 2022 from being a Student Financial Advisor at Saint Leo University, Rosa dedicated even more of her time with her grandchildren and family which she adored.
Rosa is predeceased by her father, Joseph Calvin Dural; brother, Joseph Anthony Dural; nephew, Mark Dugas; and great niece, Paris Dugas. She is survived by her mother, Thelma Jolivette; siblings Rose “Pouchie” Guidry (Clarence) and Joseph “Book” Dural; sons Henry “Ray” Harris Jr (Tyra) and Jonathan Harris; niece, Kimberly Ann Malveaux (Brent); nephew Kurk Dugas (Misty); grandchildren: Kayla, Antonio, Rayshaun, Andre, Madison, Jadyn, Jalen, Piper, William, Tre’von, Zariyah, Brieanne, Camilo, David IV and Bria; great grandchildren: Christian Jr. and Melani; great nephews Brandon Dugas, Deontre’ “Dee Dee Boy” Goodie and Cameron “Lil Wally D” Malveaux; great niece, Bailey Malveaux; great great nephew, Jasiah “Baby” Goodie; brother-in-Law, Dwight Yearwood; and Sister-in-Law, Una A.
