Sally Ann Clyde, 90, of Spokane, Washington, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born Sally Ann Weales on November 8, 1934, in Connersville, Fayette, Indiana, to Mary Burton and Frank Weales, Sally was the youngest of five children, with one sister, Louise Weales Rauch of Easton, Maryland, and three brothers, William “Bill” Weales of Linwood, New Jersey, Frederick “Fred” Weales of Kokomo, Indiana, and Dr. Gerald Weales of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her warm heart, sense of humor, and boundless generosity touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of love and service.
Raised in Connersville, Sally graduated from Connersville High School, where she formed lifelong friendships with classmates, staying connected through many joyful reunions over the years. She went on to graduate from Ball State Teachers College in Muncie, Indiana, in 1955. On December 17, 1955, she married her beloved Francis Patrick “Pat” Clyde in Delaware, USA, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with devotion. Together, Sally and Pat pursued and earned their Masters in Education from the University of Mississippi during their summers off from teaching, a testament to their shared commitment to learning. Sally’s passion for education shone brightly in her career. She taught physical education and health at Madison Heights High School in Anderson, Indiana, before moving with her family to Brandon, Florida, in 1968. There, she taught physical education at Horace Mann Junior High School and later served as a school administrator at Booker T. Washington in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida, before returning to Horace Mann until her retirement. Sally poured her heart into her students, sponsoring the student council and championing activities like canned food drives for the community, student drama, music, talent shows, and sports events, fostering a nurturing environment for young people.
Sally had a deep passion for all things Christmas, renowned for her exceptional tree decorating skills and an extensive ornament collection, which included unique treasures gifted by her globe-trotting brother, Dr. Gerald Weales, and her son, Shannon, from his Pacific Rim tour with the U.S. Navy. She and Pat hosted memorable Christmas parties that brought together faculty families from Tampa Bay Tech, Horace Mann and Booker T. Washington, creating cherished moments of laughter and connection. Sally delighted in holiday treats, especially Divinity Fudge and fruit cake, which were staples of her festive celebrations. She also cherished the beach, spending as much time as possible at her favorite spots along the Gulf Coast, where the sand and sea brought her peace and joy. After the passing of her dear husband, Pat, Sally moved to Milledgeville, Georgia, in 2019. In 2022, she relocated to Spokane, Washington, to be closer to her beloved great-grandchildren, who filled her final years with delight.
