I was remembering Dr. Scolaro the other day. He was my doctor starting in Jan 1996 until he sold his new center. He always took good care of me. Always asked me questions and always listened to my questions about my health or issues. Not to many doctors do this.

Reminiscing about my short time living in Brandon when I came upon this. In 2000 I was his medical assistant as my first job out of the Navy. He made me feel like his right hand man, always patient & caring with everyone. His pts would wait hours and the first thing he'd ask them was how's your family. He is and probably always will be the best MD I've ever worked along side. I'm grateful the time I spent with his & his wonderful office. He will be missed. 

I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Scolaro. It saddens me, because he was always so kind to my family and I. We moved to Florida in 1978 and he treated my parent's and my brother and I. I was looking for a provider for my new insurance and came across this announcement. 

Dr. Scolaro was the first Doctor I ever worked for after graduating in 1984. I also worked for his uncle Dr. Pardo in Ybor city for a short time. I'm saddened to hear of his passing and send my deepest condolences to his wife and family. He was a kind man and I will always be grateful for all he taught me.  
May you find peace in knowing he made a huge impact on all who knew him personally and professionally.

It is with great sadness I received news of Sammy's passing.  What a great guy!  I will always cherish memories from our days struggling through chemistry (organic) at USF and the long study hours at the house in Ybor, his going to KC and returning after fulfilling his dream of becoming a Doctor, to opening his practice in Bradenton to watching the love and devotion of Sam to Janie and starting a family.   I regret loosing touch  with you all over the years as we took separate roads, but I am richer for having known him.  With Sammy, what you saw was what you got, an honest, bright, concerned, dedicated professional and family man.  My deepest condolences.

My deepest condolences to the Scolaro family. Dr. Scolaro was a wonderful mentor and the first physician I ever did a rotation with in medical school. I learned so much from him but his lasting impression was what a wonderful relationship and bedside manner he had with his patients. He truly cared and was most interested in his patient’s well being.  He will be missed. 

I was a patient of Dr Scalero since 2014. I need a regular physician and a friend of mine at work referred me to him because he had a rare skin condition and Dr scalero took excellent care for him. Anyway he was my doctor ever since, and we have been been through many ailments together. He always remembered me every time I went in his office as the Publix meat cutter. He would talk about his times in Ybor City and growing up in a grocery store that is family owned. He talk to me as if he knew me my whole life and respected me as a skilled laborer that he could relate to. He was always Pleasant to talk to and wouldn't think twice about lecturing on wasting time. Always professional, friendly, and always got to the root cause of what ailed me. Dr scalero you will truly be missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Just found out today of the passing of Dr. Scolaro. I was his patient for the last 4 years.
I met him when I had just a seasonal cold and the first thing he said to me was that if I was only going to come when I was sick he was not the right doctor for me; he wanted to prevent me and stop illnesses before they get me.
His honesty and his entertaining stories made a lasting memory.

Dr. Scolaro had been my family physician since I moved to Florida in 2010.  I had not known he passed away until I called his office today to schedule an appointment.  It was as if someone had just told me a member of my family had passed.  Whether I was sick, or just checking in to get my prescriptions refilled for another 6 months, I always looked forward to my office visits with him.  It was like visiting a friend for those few minutes each time, catching up on baseball, football and politics since the last time I was in. My most sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and his office staff.  May you rest in peace sir. You are greatly missed.

Dr. Scolaro always made me feel like I was his only patient.  He was never satisfied until he knew what was wrong.  He was never a pill pusher unless it was absolutely necessary.  Boy did he believe in getting every lab done.  He cared about how you were charged for anything that he referred you to do.  Wonderful physician, fearfully and wonderfully made.

My deepest condolences for the family of Dr. Scolaro.   He will be severely missed.   He was my doctor and friend for over 30 years.   

My first visit with him was memorable, I was upset that I had to wait over 2 hours to be seen.   When I mentioned it to him directly, he stated that he was sorry for the long wait and explained that he believed in talking to his patients, understanding the issues they were reporting and ensuring they understood their ailment and proper care.  

He asked me to be patient and continue  to follow up with him.   I did and never regretted the decision.   Over 30 years we would enjoy each other’s company during my visits.  He addressed my medical concerns and we enjoyed years of good conversations, politics, sports, new medical developments and many other interesting subjects.   He would make things happen when at times my family was struggling.   He was a healer, a humanitarian, a teacher, a friend. 

My wife & three children all were blessed to know and respect this wonderful man.  Our hearts are heavy because of his  passing.   We pray for his family and know that our Lord will reap the benefit of Dr. Scolaro’s presence.  May he Rest In Peace  and know that we will think of him often.

My deepest condolences to the Scolaro family on the loss of their husband & father, Dr. Sam Scolaro.  I worked for Dr. Scolaro, when I first moved to Florida.  He was a family Man, so proud of his two beautiful daughters Jennifer & Stephanie, and he loved his wife Janie so much.  I learned so much about Lab work there. He gave me a book on it and I studied it.  He showed his appreciation to his staff at Christmas with a lovely gift and dinner.  I will always treasure the bracelet he gave me.  He loved his patients.  He would tell us how he would accept chickens for payment when people couldn’t afford to pay.  He believed in supporting local businesses as evident by all his shirts that came from Scogins.

As everyone else has said, we were so very sad to hear of Dr. Scolaro's passing.  I too had been of patient of his for many years and waited hours to see him.  However, it was worth the wait. I knew he would take his time with me as he always did, and wouldn't give up until he had a solution to whatever issue I was having at that time.  He was a wonderful Doctor, as well as wonderful, caring person.  I referred most of my family to him, and they too loved him!    He will never be forgotten, but will be overwhelmingly missed!  Our hearts and prayers go out to all of his family!

Dr. Scolaro was my father's doc in Temple Terrace.  My dad Peter Pullara died last year at 92.  Dad was born and raised in Ybor. Dr. Scolaro would reminisce with Dad, smile, and chat with him as a "paisano," which Dad always enjoyed so much!  I practiced Dermatology in Tampa and Brandon for 30 years too, and I am proud to call Dr. Sam Scolaro a colleague as well.  I got to know him personally after I began regularly accompanying Dad to his appointments. Sam  left us far too soon, and so tragically from this terrible virus.  My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I've known Sam since I started practicing orthopaedics in Brandon in 1983. No physician was more loved by his patients than Sam and no physician was more concerned about the welfare of his patients than he. His patients and associates will miss him. I will miss him. My family and I are sorry to hear of Dr. Scolaro's passing.   He took care of our family starting in the late 70s while working at Valrico Medical Center along side Dr. Hunter. Dr. Scolaro knew the meaning of being a doctor and he practiced medicine to the fullest.  He will be missed by many, however he will not be forgotten because he leaves so much good behind.   Our hearts and prayers go out to the family, colleagues and friends. 

Just want to acknowledge how much my wife Linda and I loved this dedicated doctor and followed him wherever he chose to practice for the past 25 years. Will miss him greatly!

Dr. Scolaro was one of the best doctors out there.  I joked that I followed him all over Hillsborough County when he moved offices.  I was one of the people who waited 3-4 hours just to see him.  He would listen and make the best diagnosis at the time.  He was a real gentleman and will be so missed.   My heart goes out to his family.

My wife, Mariela, and I have great memories of Sam and Janie.  Sam was very welcoming to me when I started my practice in Brandon, Fl.  He made me feel very comfortable and welcome.  We also have fond memories of attending the concerts of Sam's & Janie's daughter many years ago.  He was a very dedicated physician and his wife and Sam were very dedicated to their entire family.  We are very sorry and sad about his sudden death.

I stepped in the clinic this morning for blood tests and I was extremely sadden to hear about Mr. Scolaro passing. I had been a patient of his and he was such a passionate, dedicated doctor, I really appreciate all the health advices he gave me. But overall just his simple philosophy of living life to the fullest and doing what you love. He really was the upmost example and I am honored to have been his patient.

Dr Scolaro became my primary doctor when I was in my 20’s. I am now 49, and he would always tell the nurses that he has treated me since I was a youngster. I never enjoyed going to doctor visits, but Dr Scolaro made me feel like he genuinely cared about my health. He told me that he was my doctor and to let him know anything that bothered me. He said I want to check you from head to toe and make sure we keep you healthy. I would sometimes think about what I would do if I ever lost him as my doctor. I followed him everywhere he moved, no matter how far it was. He really did feel like a friend. I felt as though I lost a family member, when I heard of his passing. It still doesn’t seem real. I will miss our talks and his funny stories. He was really a great man, and will be greatly missed. Until we meet again sir. My condolences to the Scolaro family. Dr Scolaro, was so kind and caring. When I was a single mother he would see me and refused to let me pay. His heart was bigger than life. He was the best of the best! My heart aches he has left a footprint in my heart that will never be forgotten. He helped me in more ways than anyone will know. His kindness and caring was rare, and he made a difference in my life to help me be who I am today! I am so sorry for your loss he was and will always be a true American hero . Dr. Scolaro was our family physician for many years.  We always had spirited college football conversations, We enjoyed political  discussions, of which we agreed. He saw me at 1:00 a.m. in his Valrico office once due to a stray animal bite. We loved his dedication to his patients, He always spoke lovingly of his family, and truly Loved God. As an aspiring medical student, I was blessed with the opportunity to be mentored by Dr. Scolaro. We spent many days together in the office discussing not only medicine but other topics like golf, baseball, great music, and family which he held close to his heart. Doc showed me what it means to be a man committed to the betterment of others and to never stop pushing for greatness. I will keep him close to my heart and never stop trying to make an impact in his name.  I will miss him dearly. Heaven received an angel...

I have been working with Dr. Scolaro for the last 3 years at Florida Medical Clinic. He was always very helpful and caring towards me. When I was sick, he would work me in his schedule to be seen. He loved teaching me about anything and everything. His sense of humor lit up the room and made the workplace better. I remember, every incentive, theme party, and costume party , he would participate in.  Last Halloween, he dressed up as greaser Danny from the movie Grease. I laughed so much with him. He walked like a greaser, held his fake cigarette, and combed his hair wig just like the character. I said to him “You look good sir!” He responded “ Of course I do kiddo”. I loved sitting down with him at lunch and hearing his stories about his childhood. I will never forget him. He will be truly missed. 

I had the pleasure of working in the office with Dr. Scolaro at FMC. I would bring my son Xavier to the office sometimes and my son would not want to leave until he said hi to Dr. Scolaro and spoke with him, he always spoke to my son like he was an adult. Dr. Scolaro would ask him what he wanted to be when he grows up and my son would tell him a doctor like him (my son is 9). I will always remember that he was a great man and always called me kid (I’m 43) Lol. May you RIP. I’ll miss the morning coffees in the office kitchen and you telling me about when you were a kid. ❤️

We moved to Brandon about 25 yrs ago from Tampa, we had 2 sons and were looking for a family doctor we could all go to, we met with Dr Scolares and loved him right away! He was so comforting and funny, we will miss him forever! Our prayers are with all his family! We will be very lost without him😔

Dr . Scolaro was mine and my husband’s doctor for over 30 years when he left Valrico medical center to go to the other place we were so sad because he wasn’t only our doctor he was like family and when I heard the news about him passing I was shocked . I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Dr.Scolaro on many occasions at Brandon Regional Hospital. As a nurse there , it was fun to run into him when he made his rounds because not only did he treat his patients so kindly but he had a great since of humor too. He  asked me one time if I spoke Italian .I said yes .He said "talk to me " .I said Novantanove  ..Which means 99 . That's all I knew...He laughed so hard .And ever after that he called me Novantanove. It's a memory that still makes me laugh .I really liked him .I am so sorry to say goodbye Dr.Scolaro.May you rest in peace. And sincere condolences to all of your family .What a proud legacy.!You gave so much .
