Stephen G. Baird, 84, faithful member of West Thonotosassa Baptist Church, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 19, 2013 after a short illness. Born on Dec. 10, 1928 in Valdosta, Ga., Steve graduated from Pine Grove High School in 1946. He married Barbara J. Jackson in 1952, then moved his family to Fl. in 1955. He became employed and later Owner/Operator of R. H. Baird Wholesale Produce, retiring in 1978. Steve was predeceased by parents, Lonnie and Helen Baird; sister, Barbara Morse; and son, Stephen Baird, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Bobbie) Baird; daughter, Debra (Randy) Ross; grandchildren, Richard L Phelps, Jr. (Hollie), Patricia Phelps-Gray (Artie), Randall Ross (Brittany Walker) and Michael B. Ross; step-grandchildren, Angela (Chris) Duque, Kelli Holstein and Heidi (Jason) Wilhite; great-grandchildren, Austin and Justin Phelps, Jordyn Gray and Jacob Ross Jr.; step great-grandchildren, Kevin and Eric Brown, Nathan, Dylan and Mason Wilhite; nieces, Rose, Becky, Kathy; and nephew, Billy. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
