YOVINO, Stephen V., 90, of Tampa passed away January 22, 2018. The devoted husband of Barbara, he was predeceased by his wife of 45 years Theresa, the mother of his eight children. He leaves behind Stephen G. Yovino (Patty), Rita Atturio (Joe), Paula Yovino, Joseph Yovino (Lora), John Yovino, Catherine Cauterucci (Vince), Rose Valenti (Ron), Nina McEldowney (Steve), grandchildren Steve (Beth), Daniel, Ebbe Roe (Rina), Maxfield, John, Justin (Sarah), Perri (Tony), Aden, Emily, Michael, and great grandchildren Madison, Micah, Dylan and Tyler.
Born in Boston, of parents Joseph and Rose Montelepre Yovino, Steve joined the Navy at age 17 and worked as a sonar operator on the destroyer, USS Glennon DD 840, during WWII. He moved to Florida in 1955, graduated from USF, owned and taught at Tampa Barber College and Sunstate Barber College, and later became an inspector for the Department of Business and Professional Regulation until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Tampa. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, Brandon.
