Thomas is survived by his three sons: Mike (wife Cheryl), Tom Jr., and John (fiancée Karin Edmunds); his brother Joe Cook (wife Donna); his grandchildren Vanessa Goldblum (husband Russell) and Joanne Clark (husband Phillip); his great-grandchildren McKaley, Trace, Ethan, Faith, Thomas, and Tyson; and his great-great-granddaughter Oakley.
Thomas was born in Mize, Mississippi, on July 22, 1934, to Lamar and Wilma Cook. He served 27 years in the U.S. Army, retiring in May 1980 as a Sergeant Major. On February 14, 1957, he married Shizuko Hasegawa at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.
A funeral is scheduled for August 15, 2025, at 1130 am at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
