William Carl Gilmore, age 74, of Valrico, Florida passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 after a long battle with prostate cancer. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Erika; three children, son, Norman and wife Donna, daughter, Sandy and husband Santo, son, Dana and wife Dayna; six grandchildren, Craig, Sara, Audrey, Amber, Kaitlynn, Jordyn; and great-grandson, Aiden. William was a veteran of the Vietnam War. With 24 years of military service, he retired as an Army Master Sergeant with many awards and accomplishments. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the military never left him, as his family and friends can attest to. Following his military retirement, Bill worked 20 years at Tampa Volvo. Bill had a passion for reading and loved history as well as keeping up with current events. He enjoyed being outdoors, which included swimming, taking long nature walks, working in the yard, and tinkering with cars. He had a great love for life and was always full of optimism. Bill’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 12 pm at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home.
