Agostinho DaCosta

Passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 6, 2023 at Brantford General Hospital. Dedicated husband to Maria da Conceicao of 65 years. Predeceased by his parents Ermelinda Botelho and Agostine DaCosta. Loving father to Olga (Mike), Carlos (Kim), Susan, Judy (Dave), David (1980). Proud Grandfather to Kate (Adam), Sam (Brittany), Karly (Nick), Matthew (Karen), Nick (Kaila), Nicole, Megan, Olivia (Thomas) and Luke (Ali). Great Grandfather to Neve, Lily, Grace and Mina Shaw, Ava Farrington, Cohen DaCosta, Frances Reid Warner, Ruby Dever Reid and Claire DaCosta. Brother to Maria de Lourdes, Joe, Manuel, Albert, John and baby Natalia. Survived by in-laws Joe and Zenaide Bulhoes, Carlos and Lourdes Bulhoes, and Natalia DaCosta. He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends in both Canada, USA and Azores.

Agostinho immigrated with his wife Maria and daughter Olga in April of 1960 to Canada. He became a Canadian citizen with Maria and his daughter in 1994. He was a hard working man with many jobs in dairy and agricultural farming, mining, railroads, and construction. He lived in Brampton for 10 years and then settled in Brantford in 1971. He worked many years at Massey-Ferguson until his retirement. Gardening was his passion. He always grew vegetables in abundance to share with family and friends; he had fruit trees and his own vineyard. Winemaking and vegetable harvesting were family affairs. His greatest dedication was looking after his wife of 65 years.

The family will receive friends at the "THORPE BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME", 96 West St., on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 1-3pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Basil's Roman Catholic Church, 50 Palace St., on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 11am. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Special thank you to the staff at Brantford General Hospital Emergency and the CCU, thank you especially to nurses Tracey and Sam. Thank you to Bayshore Home Care PSWs, especially to Rita.
