George Alfred Hatton

16 June 1936 – 3 January 2026.

Passed peacefully Saturday January 3rd, 2026 in Brantford, Ontario at age 89. George is survived by his children Chris Buness (Tim), Michael Hatton (Rita), Stephanie McGinn (Colin), James Campbell (Shery) and granddaughters Samantha and Selena. George was born in Watertown, NY to parents Marjorie (née Gialdini) and George A. Hatton, Sr. Following high school in upstate New York , he attended Villanova University on an ROTC scholarship, subsequently graduating and being commissioned an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Much of his military service was spent overseas in Japan and Korea. Upon his return to the United States he went on to pursue graduate studies in business management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA. Following his marriage in 1964, he moved to Cloyne, Ontario where he happily worked for many years as a high school teacher and raised his family, eventually retiring to Paris, ON. A celebration of George’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25th, 2026 at Thorpe Bros. Funeral Home, 96 West Street, Brantford, ON. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army Paris Food Bank or the Brant County SPCA.
