It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Oma, Hildegard Schneider on Tuesday December 11, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre three weeks after her 93rd birthday., to join her beloved husband “Goldstűck” Walter (1993) and her infant daughter Rosemarie (1957). She will be sadly missed by her children, Richard, Beatrice and her husband Dr. Rod Wilson and her adoring grandchildren Lyndsey (Dan), Deanna (Dan) and Laura (Adam) and Oliver of Germany, her stepdaughter Gudrun of Germany, by her dear friends Hans and Anni Hartel, and her loving goddaughters Heidi Modesti and Elke Neat. Hilde was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and actively involved with the German Canadian Club for many years. Hilde loved to laugh and dance, a trait she passed on to her granddaughters. She had a passion for writing poetry, and over the years paid tribute to many important occasions via her poems. She placed her family first with a devotion not to be toyed with. Always a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eye, and a kind word ready to be spoken. She had an enviable zest for life and happiness. A spirit never to be daunted, even in the later stages of Alzheimers, her lips would kiss your hand, or she would stroke your arm even though she could no longer speak. Thoughtful, kind, considerate and loving, she will be dearly missed. Her life was prolonged and enhanced by the loving and tender care she received from the angels who work on Bluebird at St. Joes.
The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West Street on Saturday December 15th from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral Service in the chapel at 1:00 pm followed immediately by a reception in the Carriage House. Private family interment to take place at Mount Hope Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Stedman Community Hospice would be appreciated.
