Passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 27, 2013. Predeceased by her father Albert (1992) and survived by her mother Cecylia. Dear sister of Ed (Laurel) Karkut and Bernice (Joe) Pikula. Dear aunt of Katherine (Warren), Jonathan (Lisa), Krista (Trevor), Alison (Todd), Nadia (Rob), Joe (Tiffany). Survived by 15 great nieces and nephews. Dear niece of Albina Pasek and also survived by many other family in Canada and Poland. Joan was a 40 year employee of City Hall and will be missed by her many friends and colleagues. The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME and CHAPEL” 96 West Street on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm with Parish Prayers at 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 235 Brant Avenue on Saturday November 30, 2013 at 10:00 am. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
