Jack was profoundly loved by his wife Rita (predeceased). On a warm summer night, you could catch the two of them dancing the night away on their back deck, sometimes without music. We have no doubt they are together again, dancing amongst the clouds.
Jack was the father of two children, Nicole (Richard) & Christopher (Corinna). Nicole & Christopher have many fond memories of time spent with their father growing up. When it came to his children, Jack could be as much of a kid as they were. His time spent with his grandchildren, Damian & Izabella, was no different. He would spend hours with them colouring, teaching them to play baseball & basketball, & doing anything he could to make them laugh.
Jack is predeceased by his parents, Jack & Pearl Olmstead, brother Brian, sister Judy & niece Sherry. There will be a void in the hearts of his siblings Diane (Mike), Jim (Lorena), Donna (Dave) & Heather (John) as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews & friends.
Jack was a carefree man who loved the simple things in life; being outside, only when it was warm & sunny, a great bbq’d steak, a cold Corona on a hot day, & making memories with his family. Jack enjoyed spending time with his friends dancing & listening to live bands or singing Karaoke at the Brant Artillery Gunners Club where he was a lifetime member. His presence is already missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be given to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Steadman Hospice in Jack’s honour.
Cremation has taken place. Jack’s wishes were not for a funeral, but for a celebration of his life where family & friends can share their fond memories of their time spent with him. His family invites you to join them on Saturday May 18th from 1-4pm in the upper auditorium of Brant Artillery Gunners Club, located at 115 Henry St., Brantford.
