In loving memory of Maria Cristina DeSantis (nee Picheca) it is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mother on March 10, 2026, at the age of 82 years, surrounded by her loving family at Tillsonburg Memorial hospital. Maria was the devoted wife of Mauro DeSantis and cherished mother of Lisa (Jim), Silvano (Janet) and David DeSantis. A proud Nonna to Leila Villa (Alex), Ryland DeSantis and Stefania DeSantis. The doting Grande Nonna to Gabriel, Isabella and Avalina Villa. Her love knew no bounds and she embraced each of her grand children and great grandchildren with open arms and hear full of unconditional love. Sister of Prospero (Elena), Iolanda (Donato), Anotonio (Amy), Aldo (Madelena), Donato (Angie), Giuseppa (Antonio), Cesare (Gina), and Bruno (Mimmie). Along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Family was always Maria’s number one priority as a wife, mother, and Nonna, she embodied love, devotion, and strength and her love for her family was the heart of the DeSantis household. She had a passion for her flower and vegetable gardens where she found peace and joy much like how she tended to her family, always growing, and always nurturing. Her cooking and baking filled the home with the warmth of love and tradition. Maria’s kitchen was always a place of comfort where everyone felt welcomed and loved. Maria’s legacy is one of profound love and devotion. She leaves behind a family that will forever carry her memory and the lessons she instilled in each of us. The importance of family, the beauty of hard work and power of love.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff from the Tillsonburg hospital, for the compassionate care given to her. Friends and family will be received at Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home, 96 West Street, Brantford, on Monday March 16th, from 11:00am – 1:00pm.
