Sally's wishes were to have her ashes spread out into a large body of water. On the evening of January 27, 2015 Joe & I spread some of Sally's ashes into the Atlantic Ocean on Indialantic Beach, Florida. This is where she & her husband Vic had so many wonderful memories in the early 1970's, living in an apartment right on Indialantic Beach, stepping out her back door onto the sand. The next evening, January 28, 2015 Joe & I spread more of Sally's ashes into the Gulf of Mexico on Casey Key Beach, which is south of Sarasota. Sally lived many years in that area and Casey Key/Nokomis Beach were her & her best friend Rose's favorite beaches closest to their homes. There was a beautiful deep orange sunset the evening of January 28, 2015 when I spread more of her ashes into the Gulf of Mexico.

Then finally on Friday, January 30, 2015 Joe & I spread her remaining ashes into the Indian River in Sebastian, FL. In the 1970's Sally & Vic had such happy times living in Sebastian and they both loved the Indian River. A memorial brick for Sally is being made this month and will be placed across the street from the Indian River in Riverview Park, sometime in April or May of this year. This is an appropriate place for a permanent memorial since Sebastian and nearby towns were where she was the most happy and she mentioned them often over the years. Sally was  young, healthy, happy and in love during those years!  

So, Sally would be happy that her ashes were placed into her 3 favorite bodies of water in Florida. Now she is travelling the world by way of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico!

As Rachel's husband, I have several fond memories of our trips to Florida to see
Sally and Art. One such trip involved all of us going to EPCOT. Sally was so happy that day showing us all the fun things to see and do at EPCOT. She especially enjoyed an Irish pub there where she drank Irish coffee while listening to beautiful Irish music. It was in October, the weather was cool, and the memories made were happy ones. 

Another happy memory Rachel and I had was staying at their home on Pocono Trail when they had their dogs Jamie and Ruffles. Sally was a life-long lover of dogs and had helped her husband Art to become that way, so they had healthy and happy dogs. When she and Art moved to CANADA in 1995 Sally started a dog breeding (Cock-a-Poos) business as well as dog boarding. Sally loved Poodles and had several of them throughout the years. Her last Poodle was Louie, a/k/a "King Louie", who was a medium brown miniature and was also a doggie model (sweaters/coats) for a canine design company. Louie lived a very long, happy life with Sally until his passing in 2010. That was Sally's last dog. 

And of course the best memory of all was when Sally and Art attended our wedding in the States back in 1990. They were both healthy and happy and Sally was so proud to be there. We'll never forget the smile on her face that day!

Those are just a few memories Rachel and I shared with Sally. She was a good woman and helped a lot of people, as well as animals, in her life. She'll be missed by both.

May we always remember how her influence was a blessing on our opportunities to live and love.  From sister to sister her name has always been close to me.  I treasure the memories of how she took me under her wing like a second mother, counseling me to be conscientious, compassionate and contributing good rather than being too careless and unmindful in my youth.  She opened my eyes to more than the ocean.  I love and miss you both so much, wishing you all the best with confidence she is in good hands in rest.

Sally Jane Trelenberg, born as Sally Jane Stafford, in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 11, 1945 (United States). Beloved sister, aunt, cousin and friend who will be dearly
missed. Sally was a lover of dogs, rescued many of them as well as
rehabilitated several over the years. Sally found many dogs good homes
and never turned away a stray....be it a dog or cat. They must have felt
her love and knew they would be safe in her arms. In her younger years she
lived in Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Oklahoma, California, Texas and Florida. Florida was her favorite state to live in and she had many wonderful memories there with family and friends as well as at the beach. Sally loved the ocean. She was also a very artistic person from an early age. In her late teens and early twenties she worked designing window cases for one of the premiere downtown Indianapolis department stores and even designed one of their wedding dresses which appeared in the local newspaper. Sally modeled bathing suit caps from that store as well. She painted through out the years and while in Florida supported local artists in her area by purchasing their paintings. Sally had a sharp mind for numbers and excelled at many jobs through out her working career, especially at Southland Corporation while living in Florida. Another wonderful experience Sally had
in Florida was during the late 1960's, into the early 1970's, when she met some of the Apollo era astronauts who were regular diners at the restaurant where she worked. Sally and her friends would watch almost every Apollo rocket launch during those years. She also had the rare experience of being able to walk out her back door onto the beach of the Atlantic Ocean in Indialantic, 
Florida for several years. It was there one night that she and her husband Vic scooped up load after load of baby sea turtles and put them in the ocean as they were going the wrong way toward the lights. Those were very happy years for Sally and she loved living on the Atlantic Coast of Florida. She also lived on the Gulf Coast of Florida, near Sarasota, for many years and had great memories there as well. With both family and friends Sally had many wonderful lunches at a restaurant named Sharky's that served the best fried Grouper (fish) sandwiches in the whole area. The restaurant not only had great food but was on the end of a pier with an amazing view of the Gulf. It was one of Sally's favorite restaurants back in the 1980's. She moved to Brantford, Ontario CANADA in 1995 with her Canadian husband Art Trelenberg. She greatly enjoyed her time living in Canada for the past 19 years. Lastly, Sally was a class act, not only in the way she dressed through out her life (and we all know Sally took a lot of pride in how she looked)but she was also a class act as a person.
