Amber Kathien (Lindstrom) VanSantford passed away on March 3, 2025 in Port Orchard. Born at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, CA in 1944 to parents Julien and Kathryn (Kananen) Lindstrom, she grew up on both East and West Coasts. Settling in Bremerton, she graduated from West High School in 1962 and immediately began working at PSNS.
Following marriage, she worked at military installations in Tacoma, WA, San Diego, CA and Charleston, SC. Returning to Washington State, she worked at the Naval Hospital, retiring in 2004.
Amber was a member of Adventure of Faith Church where she sang in the Choir and she was a charter member of the Kitsap Community Chorale. She was also active in Federally Employed Women (Few) and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE).
She is survived by her sons John VanSantford of Port Orchard and David VanSantford of Orting, brother Jay Lindstrom of Albuquerque, NM, sister, Holly Light of Belfair, nephew, Gregory Kugler of Belfair, grandchildren, Alannah, Nicholas, Cade, Zachary, Daniel, Adison, and Leland and great-grandchildren, Jaxon, A.J. and Olivia. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved, Fred.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00 am at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bremerton Services Association dba Meals on Wheels Kitsap, 2817 Wheaton Way, Suite 208, Bremerton, WA 98310.
