3 West Hospice. The last 3 weeks of his life between HMC, Martha and Mary Rehab, and HMC Hospice.
Bruce's surviving daughter Sharon Avery Lenhart, holding his hand, as classic Christian Hymns playing
on CD next to him ushered him to his eternal Home where many loved ones, family and friends greeted him.
Bruce and his son in law and daughter lived together.
Celebration of Life Services will be held this Sat June 21st, 2014 at Sylvan Way Baptist Church,
900 Sylvan Way, Bremerton, WA.

Bruce is best described as steady, steadfast, responsible.
Bruce was always busy, always something to do! Behind the scenes, firm foundation, server, helper,
giver, gave finances to for many needs of others he never spoke of. He gave to many missions.
Bruce Avery and his father both shared the same first name of Bernard so he always went by
his middle name Bruce.
Bruce was born in Fullerton, CA. In 1922 .
When Bruce was 2 years old his family returned to the northwest where both parents
had extended family in Oregon and WA.
The family lived on an acreage in Eugene, Oregon 1922 - 1934.
In 1934 the family moved to the Silverdale, WA area.
Bruce Avery graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1938.
Bruce served in the Navy during both WW2 and the Korean Conflict Reserves.
Following graduation of high school Bruce completed the Civil Service Machinist Apprenticeship,
and graduated as a Journeyman Machinist. Due to working for Civil Service this delayed
his entrance into the WW2. Their group was finally told to join the Navy to avoid draft
into the Army. Bruce joined the Navy, 1943 - 1946.
In June of 1944 Bruce was assigned into the Navy as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class with a Ship Repair Unit.
Then transferred to Harbor Island in Seattle, WA where he was attached to the USS Yellowstone.
Bruce through the Navy Reserves served in country for 14 months during the Korean Conflict.
After Bruce's discharge the Navy, he returned to the PSNS to cont. his former employment.
Bruce worked for 36 years before retirement June 1977. Bruce had worked up the ranks
and retired as a Production Shop Planner, Shop 931.
Bruce met is wife Evleen Edmund Avery, in the "First Pres" Young People's Group.
They were married on June 20th, 1946, celebrating 63 years of marriage.
Bruce has been an active member of 3 churches in Kitsap County, 1. Bible Church in Silverdale, WA
in High School, where he went forward in church to commit his life to Christ. Short time later Bruce was
water baptized with other church members in the bay off Old Town Silverdale.
2. "First Pres", current Lincoln Ave Bible Church 1940 - 1976. 3. Sylvan Way Baptist
Church 1976 - 2014. In LABC and SYBC Bruce served a list of positions including Missions, Usher, Deacon, Finance, Benevolence, working with other church men in the maintenance of the church.
During his time at LABC, Bruce served 18 years as the Sunday School Secretary, 1956 - 1974. He worked
with the other men completing the current church bldg. In 1957 LABC won a new bus for highest
church growth Nat'l Contest .
Bruce never really "retired." Bruce cont. with extended family, church service work, around the house work, gardening,mechanics, honey do list and more. Bruce enjoyed Train Hobby throughout his life.
Bruce enjoyed reading, including Christian, History, and Science. Until the end of his life
he had daily personal Bible devotions.
Bruce was blessed with health majority of his life.
He exampled steadfast in the many years of faithful health care of his wife Evleen.
Their daughter Marilyn also had life long physical health disabilities, born with Marfan Syndrome.
Bruce was active in the lives of all of his grandchildren and great grandsons.
One of his grandsons reflected " GPA is our family foundation."
Bruce was preceded to Heaven by his wife Evleen (2009), daughter Marilyn L. Avery, (2013),
infant son Timothy Bruce (1952). His parents Bernard and Pearl Avery, infant brother Lyle Bruce 1918,
his parent in laws Dr. John and Marguerite Edmund, numerous cousins, brothers and sisters in law.

Caitlin Faith Brown (Cody James), Seabeck, WA. Joshua Brown, Seabeck, WA
and AZ2 (AW) Anastasia Hope Brown, San Diego, CA, (soon to be living
back in WA. , stationed on Whidbey Island, WA).
Honorary Family: Carolina Garcia.
3 (step) Grandchildren: Danny, Everett, WA Kelly & Lara Lenhart, both of AZ.
2 Great Grandsons: Cody James La France, 7 & Max Amir Brown, 18 months old.
Numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

in our home the past 2013 - 2014 year.
