Benita Lomboy, age 90, of Silverdale, WA passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sep 2 at Harrison Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born Mar 1928 in Pampanga, Philippines to Eugenia and Lino.
Benita graduated with a bachelor’s degree in commerce, major in Accounting, at the Far Eastern University in the Philippines. On June 4, 1960, she married her husband, Gregorio Lomboy in Manila.
She worked as a Land Examiner at the Philippine Bureau of Lands for 35 years. Retiring in 1991, she moved to the United States with her husband, Gregorio, a WWII Fil-Am Veteran. She is a parishioner at the Holy Trinity Catholic church in Bremerton and was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League and the Foster Grandparents Headstart program in Bremerton, WA.
Benita lived a religious and simple life through simple pleasures; socializing, cooking, spending time with her family, playing cards, rummy and solving word puzzles. Benita had a very adorable and contagious smile and with her optimistic and cheerful outlook in life, she had the ability to make people smile in a positive way. She is well loved by her family and friends and often referred to as a “social butterfly”.
She is survived by her four sons and a daughter; Jorge III and his wife Tess, Gilbert and his wife Ethel, Benedicta and her husband Allen, Emmanuel and his wife Wilma, Joel and his wife Rowena; and six grandchildren, Paolo, Camille, Gretchel, David John, Kenneth and Victoria.
A viewing will be held on Wed, Sept. 12 from 5-8PM at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Chapel, 5505 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, WA 98312. A service will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1513 6th street, Bremerton, WA 98337 on Thu, Sept. 13 with a viewing starting at 9AM, rosary at 10:15AM followed by Mass at 11am.
