Constance (Connie) Olson passed away very peacefully, at home, on November 4, 2017. She was born in Mt. Vernon, WA, April 15th, 1920, to Isadore and Evelyn Ingman. Her brother, Bob, was born two years later, on her birthday, and her sister, Jeannine, 6 years after that. Her family came to Kitsap County during the Second World War settling in Tracyton so her Dad could work in Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She met and married Kenneth Mills and had two daughters, Linda and Merrilyn. They later divorced, and in 1957, she married Fred Olson, gaining another daughter, Marleen, and a granddaughter, Kristin.
In the early 1960’s, Dad (“Dad” to all 3 daughters) and Mom bought a summer cabin on Hood Canal’s North Shore, and loved sharing “the beach” with family and friends. Every summer weekend, as well as some Thanksgivings, were spent at the beach. The grandchildren grew up checking the crabpot with Grandpa and we all enjoyed crab as well as oysters from the beach. After they sold the beach house in the early 90’s, they often traveled to Hawaii or Mexico in the winter. Dad passed away in 2001.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and she lost her sister, Jeannine Ingman Price, who was the first Miss Kitsap County, in 1958, and her brother, Bob Ingman, who was a teacher and principal in Bremerton, in 1959. They were a very close family and Mother missed them all for the rest of her life.
She is survived by daughters, Linda Wiley (Paul), Merrilyn Larson (Mike), and Marleen Putnam; granddaughters Kristin Ferraro (Al), Shawn Ferris, and Lauri Olson; grandsons Lee Olson (Jewel), Matthew Larson, Mitchell Larson (Esther), and Michael Larson (Jenelle), as well as 3 great-granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons. She is also survived by much-loved nieces and nephews: Christi and Ken Price, and Dan and Julie Ingman.
Sometimes it feels as if there are no words good enough to describe a person – And, oh how Mom would laugh to think we were speaking of her! We were so blessed to have you in our lives, Mom, Grandma, GG, and friend. You were a woman of quiet faith expressed in an always cheerful, selfless attitude; a woman of intelligence often masked by shyness, but most of all a woman of all-encompassing kindness and love. We miss your fun sense of humor and most of all, your beautiful, sweet smile. God bless your precious memory.
Mom was a member of the Harrison Hospital Guild and Tracyton United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9th, at 1:00 at Tracyton United Methodist Church. Memorial remembrances may be made to Tracyton United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
Arrangements under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, Bremerton, WA.
