David Lloyd Luttinen DVM, DABVP

age 45, passed away November 7, 2020.

David was born in Seattle, Wa on December 31st 1974.

He was the son of Doralice (Dodie) Christiansen and William Luttinen.

David leaves behind his loving wife and soul mate, Jennifer Luttinen, and their four beautiful daughters; Zoie, Bridgett, Ysabel and Amanda. He also leaves behind his furry family of two dogs and seven cats. David loved and adored his family.

He also had four siblings he loved unconditionally, Dana, Erica, Seth and Elyce. He has numerous nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts, and cousins that will miss him dearly.

David started his academic journey by graduating Shorecrest High School with Honors. He went on to attend Whitworth College earning a duel B.S. in Biology and Chemistry. David furthered his education by attending Washington State University and graduating in 2001 with honors earning his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM).

David returned home to the Kitsap Community where he met his future wife and life companion. David and Jennifer married in December of 2003. He and his wife purchased Wheaton Way Veterinary Hospital in 2005. They worked side by side providing excellent medical care.

In 2009 he challenged himself again, by earning his Board Certification as one of very few Diplomates of the American Board of Veterinary Practioners (DABVP) in Western Washington specializing in Canines and Felines.

Through years of practice he realized that his true purpose isn’t for himself but rather to serve his patients, clients, staff, family, profession and community while giving people hope and encouragement during difficult times with a suffering pet.

We could write pages on his professional accomplishments but his heart always came home to his family, which he held as his highest accomplishment. David loved to smile, laugh and dance to Taylor Swift songs with his daughters. He was incredibly spontaneous and adventurous. He loved to take RV or just road trips with his family. David’s favorite place to go was Disneyland where he created many memories with his girls. He was not ashamed to be holding “glittered signs” at tween concerts or painting his face with blue and gold glitter cheering for his daughters’ high school foot ball team on a Friday night. He would even ask his home filled of girls “Does my makeup look alright?” He loved to quote movies, reminisce about times past and surprise his family with some crazy plan or idea. Not enough words can describe the loss of someone who lit up any room he entered. David will be missed by many. His departure was unexpected but his legacy of resilience, compassion, faith and love will be continued through the many lives he touched. Although, we would love to have kept him with us longer, David is at peace with the Lord Jesus.

His family wishes to hold a Celebration of Life for David. The Celebration date will be held after the Holidays and hopefully with decreased Covid-19 Restrictions. The family will be welcoming any and all people who David has touched. We hope everyone understands the decision to hold the gathering until after the new year since there are so many of you who loved and cared for him.
