

Derrick Lee Cronkhite was born on November 24, 1928 in Castle Rock, WA to Theda Lillian Derrick and Lee Victor Cronkhite. He died April 24, 2016 at the age of 87. At the age of 5 the family moved to Bremerton, settling on North Wycoff in 1933 building the family home. Derrick worked with his father at Cronkhite Tile and Plastering, taking over the business in 1962, until his retirement in 1988. He was an active member of Sons of Norway, Elks and served as President of Lions. Derrick was instrumental in starting the Chief Kitsap Lions Club. In 1948 he married Rosemary Wheeler, who died in 1988 and in 1991 married Gladys Wright, who died in 2011. He was also proceeded in death by brother Donald Mull in 1973. He is survived by his sister Barbara Passe' of Bremerton, daughters Robin (Jesse) Crum of Pensacola, Derilee (Mark) Ziebart of Alberta, Canada, stepsons Jeff and Kirk Wright, life partner Louise Okonek of Grapeview, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and lifelong good friends Dick and Shirley Vlist. Your family and friends love you, Derrick, and will miss you greatly. At his request there will be no funeral services. A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Grapeview Fire Hall, 4350 E Grapeview Loop Rd, Grapeview, WA 98546.
