Dolores Paul
September 28, 1930 - April 4, 2020
Dolores Paul passed away in peace on Saturday April 4, 2020 at 8:00 A.M. The angels of The Lord looked down and called her name. During her brief illness, trials and tribulations she always remembered the blessings that were bestowed upon her.
Dolores was blessed with the gift of life on September 28, 1930 to Rev. Noily Paul and Iola Paul in Saint James Parish La. She was one of seven children. She grew up in New Orleans, later Married Joseph Lucas and they started a family consisting of three girls and one boy, Cynthia Lucas, Joseph Jr. Josie Brown, and Vanessa Lucas. In 1964 Dolores left New Orleans and moved to Seattle Washington for a new start. She was gainfully employed at Harborview Medical Center for a period of 27 yrs. Never losing sight of her Christian beliefs she became the pianist for her church and later, starting a junior choir for the young people. That was one of her greatest joys, to watch the children learn and grow spiritually.
After retirement she found additional joy working in her yard and doing lots of gardening. She received many compliments from people passing by. She would say "I can stay in this yard playing in the dirt all day." That was one of her more peaceful moments.
Dolores was preceded in death by her Father and Mother Rev. Noily Paul Sr. and Iola Paul, Sister - Iona Paul, Brothers - Roland Paul, Norman Paul and Rev. Noily Paul Jr. Her Daughter - Cynthia Lucas, Grandson - Jerry Jones Jr., Granddaughter - Sabrina Merritt and the father of her children Joseph Lucas Sr.
She leaves behind Children - Joseph Lucas Jr., Josie Brown, and Vanessa Lucas. Grandchildren - Carnissa Lucas Smith, James Brown Jr., Nia Lucas, Joe Cynthia Lucas, Lechelle Lucas, Philip Lucas and Joseph Lucas III, Sister - Rosemary Cowart, Brother - Leroy Paul, Godson - Kenneth Cowart, Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Dolores prepared for her journey always saying God is calling us in. She was a kind spirit and would always have an encouraging word. She will be missed.
Thanks to Daniel Taylor for his many acts of kindness and Joseph Lucas Sr. for making us a family. May God bless you in eternal life.
