

Doris May Morgen passed away on September 11, 2014 in Bremerton. She was born on May 22, 1928 to Edward and Anna Rott in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She married William Peter Morgen on April 10, 1947. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, William Morgen; parents, Edward and Anna Rott; sisters Anne and Mabel; and brothers Edward, Harry, Laurel, and Verne. She is survived by brothers Harvey Rott and John Rott; sister Joan King; sons Jerry Morgen (Bev) and Paul Morgen (Dino); daughters Nanci Vanshur (Jim), Deborah Schmittler (Bill), and Peggy Kempf (Mel); as well as 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, with two expected in October. Doris was a high school graduate and homemaker and she also worked in retail at Fred Meyer for 12 years. She enjoyed cooking and baking, crocheting and sewing, ceramics, and holiday crafts. Some of her favorite things were dancing with Dad, being with family, spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren, holidays, family get-togethers, travel, and shopping, and she very rarely missed attending her grandchildren’s recitals, plays, concerts, sports events, and graduations. Doris lived her life with the values of giving, compassion, and love. She believed that family is first and valued her friendships. Doris will be remembered as a loving wife, the best mother, and a proud Grammy. Her family was her whole world. The family would like to thank the staff of Cypress Gardens for their care and support given to mom over the years. Thank you also to Northwoods Lodge staff for the gentle, loving care they gave mom in her final days. A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014, at 1:00pm at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00.
