

Dorothy May Stover (Riley) Churchill of E Bremerton, 89, returned to the loving arms of the Lord on Oct 28, 2012. She lived with her daughter Carol & family for 18 yrs; as health declined, the last 2 years she resided at Belmont-Stafford Nursing Home. She spent her last days at Bremerton Health & Rehab Center.
She was born in Oil City, PA, on Mar 31, 1923, the second of 6 children of Nelson Earl & Hazel Vesta (Graham) Stover. Dorothy married John W Riley in 1942; 22 yrs & 3 children before his death at age 67. Married Roscoe R Churchill in 1967; 30 yrs before his death at 84.
Dorothy enjoyed time with her family, traveling, gardening, game shows, puzzles & listening to gospel & country music. She had a love for flamingos, Shirley temple, & 2 dear pets: a peacock, "Pretty Boy", and a black cat, "Midnight." She had a gift of making everyone smile & laugh; she danced her hula to any music someone played. She was a Christian & a member of the Crossroads Neighborhood Church, & a lifetime member of the CA Ladies VFW Aux Post 6213.
Surviving are her children, John “Jack” Riley (Linda) of Empire, CA, Larry Riley (Lori) of Turlock, CA, & Carol McConnaughey (Neill) of E Bremerton, WA; brother, Robert Stover of Kennerdell, PA; sisters, Betty Douglass of Rock Hill, SC & Hazel “Sis” Ralphe of Franklin, PA; (sister), Phyllis Stover of Oil City, PA; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren & 1 step great-grandchild; & numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Stover; sister, Bertha Nelson ; (brother), Paul Douglass; & (sister) Dorothy (McMillen) Stover.
The family thanks her caregiver team members that made her comfortable in her declining years.
