

She was born on March 25, 1918 in Hoffman, Minnesota to Martin and Emma Anderson. At the age of 8 years she started her piano lessons. She enjoyed her music all through her life, and especially loved to accompany choirs and choruses.
She graduated from Hoffman High School in 1935. She then went on to Moorhead State Teachers College where she was a member of the girl’s aquatic club and girl’s basketball team. She was also one of 14 girls which performed synchronized swimming at the college. She then taught school in Minnesota for 5 years.
Dorothy moved to Bremerton, WA. in 1942, where she met and married Charles Donald Larson. They had four children. They were active members of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Bremerton. Dorothy was the church organist for 20 years and also taught piano lessons for 15 years.
After retiring, they spent their winter months in Mesa, Arizona. Dorothy also accompanied for the choir at St. Peter Luther Church in Mesa. In her spare time, she also loved to play golf, hike in the mountains, play bridge, and square dance.
Her husband, Donald, passed away in 2003. At that time, she moved from the family home into Canterbury Manor, and later into Bay Pointe Retirement Community.
She is survived by daughter Roberta (Ray), sons David (Karen), Bruce (Chris), and Bryan (Patti); 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and brother, Roger Anderson.
A celebration of Dorothy Larson’s life will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on June 20, 2015. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dorothy’s name may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church or Franciscan Hospice at P.O. Box 1502, Tacoma, WA 98401.
