Douglas Blaine Chadwick

He remembered his youth fondly, with loving parents and sisters, warm donuts, Husky football games, and learning to drive on the hills of downtown Seattle with a stick shift. After the loss of his father at a young age, Doug also spent time in Baltimore, Illinois, and Oregon.

Doug honorably served in the United States Army and spent several years in the reserves. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico and would bless family meals in Spanish as often as the occasion would permit. After his mission, he returned to his family in Wisconsin, where he met and fell in love with his future wife, Elaine Roundy. They attended Brigham Young University together, where he earned an economics degree. His fandom for the Cougars became the source of many beloved family memories, from satellite games at the church to Miracle Bowl victories.

His adult life was spent in the service of his family, community, and faith. His eight children kept him busy with athletic events, social endeavors, and cars that needed to be fixed. In his later years, he could often be found on the ground playing with his grandchildren, setting up model train sets, or simply making them laugh.

Doug spent many years serving in various capacities in his church. He especially enjoyed working with the youth—driving several hours for an activity, keeping his schedule and his door open on a youth night, or simply being there when someone needed him. His home was often filled with his children's friends, many of whom came to consider it a second home of their own.

He worked tirelessly to provide for his family as a bank executive, and that work ethic has infused the lives of the generations that have followed. But to those who loved him most, it was his love, optimism, devotion, and goofiness that will be forever cherished.

Doug's memory lives on with his loving wife of 62 years, Elaine; his sisters, Gloria, Carol, Judy and Sarah; his children, Michael, Clinton, Wesley, Lori, Heather, Matthew, Nathan, and Preston; 34 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located on Frontier Road in Silverdale, on Saturday, August 29, at 1:30 p.m. It will also be broadcast via Zoom with the following link: https://zoom.us/j/94488522480 (meeting 944 8852 2480).
