Eleanor was born in Los Angeles to James and Ada Joham. She enjoyed playing with many cousins at huge annual family picnics and summer camping weeks on California beaches. Graduating from Santa Barbara High School, she attended UC Berkeley. In 1936 she married James Edward Halligan, becoming a Navy wife & mother. Eleanor raised their four children in many locations including Bremerton, DC area, Coronado and Pearl Harbor. When Captain Halligan retired, they took many European trips, then lived in Italy and England for a year. In 1979, they returned to Kitsap County, to be near their children. Her children acquired her love of learning, giving them all professional careers. She loved dogs, genealogy research, gourmet cooking and singing in church choirs. An accomplished seamstress, pianist and artist, she captured lively expressions in portraits and tranquilly in landscapes. We will miss her sweet loving nature and winning smile. Her descendants include children John Edward (Bunny), Francesca (David) Drum, James Patrick (Marcia), and William Keith (Pam) Halligan, 11 grandchildren, 13 great, 3 great great, and 2 great great great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 1:00pm.
