Betty was a registered nurse and military spouse eventually settling in Silverdale, Washington with her husband of 52 years Dan Lathrop.
Her interests and activities were many, she was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve Association Unit 310, an avid bowler, longtime member of Our Saviour"s Lutheran church in Bremerton where she was an active member the choir and quilting group. She was a very accomplished seamstress and her family will always treasure the personalized quilts and Christmas stockings made with loving care for each of us.
She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her pilgrimage to the Holy Land and enjoying Maui sunsets listening to Dan yodel as a nightly ritual during their yearly trip.
Survivors include her husband Dan, Children Larry Carter of Las Vegas, Chuck (Dorothy) Carter of Poulsbo, Bill Carter of Gig Harbor, Asha (John) Barnes of Oregon, Scott (Mary) Carter of Port Orchard, and Mike (Shellie) Lathrop of Port Orchard. She also had a rich blessing of many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband William B. Carter, an infant brother Larry Sweazey, Sisters Maxine McKinley and JoAnn Payne and granddaughter Sondra Carter.
At her request there will be no service. Memorial donations may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church Bremerton Washington.
