Emmalena (Emmie) Dillon, age 94, passed away at Bay Vista Commons assisted living facility, in Bremerton, on June 3rd of natural causes. Emmie was born August 4, 1921 in Murdo, South Dakota, to John and Mary Margaret Krogman. She was the third oldest of 14 children. Emmie worked several childcare jobs in South Dakota and Nebraska before moving to Bremerton in the early 40’s to work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as part of the war effort. Both she and her twin sister Ernestena (Ernie) and their younger sister Clara, worked at PSNS during WWII, but only Emmie stayed until she retired in 1977. Since retiring, she spent her time doing the things she enjoyed, gardening, canning, crocheting, doing crafts, and especially making quilts. She was a founding member of Peace Lutheran Church here in Bremerton, and a lifelong member of the LWML quilting group where she routinely made over a 100 quilts a year for Lutheran World Relief Charities. She met and married Sylvester (Vester) Dillon in 1960 and has one daughter, Debbie, who with her husband Paul Ofsthun, live in Silverdale. Emmie has one grandson, Ryan McQueen, of Bremerton, as well as many nieces and nephews. Emmie is preceded in death by her husband, Vester, her parents, John and Mary Margaret, and all 13 siblings, John, Anna, Ernie, Cliff, Irene, Clarence, Iris, Edna, Rosie, Lucille, Clara, Vera and Roy.
