Flora Louise Jasso, born on September 22, 1925, in San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, at the age of 100, with her son John, daughter-in-law Carmella, and granddaughters by her side.
Flora was the oldest of four daughters born to a shoe salesman father and a homemaker mother. She was raised in San Antonio, where she developed the strong family values, resilience, and deep faith that defined her life.
In 1975, Flora and her beloved husband, Oscar P. Jasso, moved to Bremerton, Washington, after Oscar accepted a position at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. True to her priorities, Flora's only stipulation for their new home was that it be within walking distance of a church. They purchased a house on 6th Street, and Flora became a devoted patron of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, where her faith and community involvement remained central for the rest of her life.
Oscar, her husband of many decades, predeceased her on December 5, 2008. Flora is survived by their four children: son John (wife Carmella), daughters Irene Briggs, Geralyn Martinez, and Yvonne Gutierrez; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her stepdaughters Sherry Jean Jasso and Mary Antoinette Swenson.
Flora equally loved spending time with all her children and grandchildren, treasuring every moment with her family whether they lived nearby in Washington or visited from Texas. She found great joy in gardening and was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord with all her heart, attending Mass faithfully at Our Lady Star of the Sea.
Flora lived a long and meaningful life rooted in family, faith, and quiet devotion. She will be remembered for her steadfast love, her dedication to the church she could walk to, and the legacy she built across generations.
A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Bremerton. Details regarding services and interment will be shared by the family.
May she rest in eternal peace.
