Genevieve (Gen) Parker, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully on June 4, 2014 at the age of 95. Genevieve was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, William (Bill) Parker and her wonderful parents, Donna and Andrew Panian. She is survived by her loving daughter, Judie Hill (Dyloe) as well as four children, Michael Hill (Eileen), Michelle Studer (Mike), Lia Estigoy, Marnie Treat (Chris) and nine great-grandchildren: Thomas, Marina, Nicholas, Garrett, Emma, Lillie, Maxine, Isabella, and Christopher. \
Genevieve was born in East Helena, Mont. on July 1, 1918. She was raised in Tacoma and graduated from Stadium in 1935. In her youth Genevieve spent countless hours at Point Defiance Park where she swam and rode her bike.
In 1938, Genevieve met the love of her life, Bill Parker, who was serving in the Navy. They married on May 11, 1940 and relocated to Bremerton. They joined Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and became active in their new community. Genevieve became part of a very special group of friends called the “Sewing Club.”
Genevieve was known especially for her faith and love of Jesus. She was a faithful servant member of our Lady Star of the Sea Church for over 60 years. She lived a devoted life helping in church ministries. She enjoyed Altar Society, and being part of the YLI Institute. The fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control were all lived out in her life. She was humble and compassionate. She always saw the good in others. Her prayers, kind words and inspiration will be missed.
No one could ask for a better wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law or friend. Mom will always be remembered for her great joy, kind heart, beautiful smile, cheerful sparkle and unbridled love for family, friends and animals. Memories of Genevieve will be cherished forever by those who knew her. Her presence will be missed dearly and her life honored daily.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Bremerton. A rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. The family wishes to thank Manor Care in Gig Harbor for their devoted care of Genevieve.
