

Gerald Jeffrey Miller, 86, of Olalla passed away 10/22/2013. He was born 8/20/1927 in Bremerton to Thomas Jeffrey and Edna (Weed) Miller. He married Lois Vivian Yvonne Benson on 11/20/1948. He is survived by his daughters, Joan Francis Miller of Auburn, WA, and Yvonne Marie Miller of Kent, WA; grandsons, Raymond Jeffrey Reid (Rika Sato), Mathew Michael Reid, Benjamin Jeffrey Miller, and Daniel Wayne Miller; and great-grandsons, Noah Jeffrey Reid and Kazu Reid. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his son, Wayne Jeffrey Miller. Mr. Miller spent 26 years in the Navy serving his country. He spent most of his Naval career working on power generation and water desalination projects, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in 1972. He also "wintered over" in Antarctica three times, working on the setup, operation and shutdown of the PM-3A nuclear power plant at McMurdo Station. After he retired from the Navy in 1977, he continued his engineering career with several large companies, including overseas assignments in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. After finally retiring in 1986 the family settled down in Olalla, WA. Mr. Miller and his wife enjoyed travel, including an "around-the-world" trip on one of their many excursions. Mr. Miller also enjoyed building his dream home, gardening, reading and spending time with his family and friends. Visitation will be Sat, 11/2/2013 at 12:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Mr. Miller’s Life 2:00 pm at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton. A reception will follow.
