Gloria M. (Bull) Hansen of Poulsbo, Washington, was born on November 18, 1931, in Bremerton, Washington. She was the oldest daughter of Albert and Anna (Ekstedt) Bull. She passed away in her family home on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the age of 93. She grew up on a ten- acre farm in Port Orchard and graduated from South Kitsap High School on June 3rd, 1949. Only three weeks later, she married the love of her life, Sankey (Bud) Hansen. They were married 59 years. Together, they raised four children: Nadine, Rick, Steve and Bruce. In 1959, they bought a 20-acre farm on the South Keyport Road where they lived for the remainder of their lives.
For most of her adult life, Mom worked as a homemaker, though she did work outside the home at times. Seasonally, she made Christmas wreaths at Callison’s Holly Farm across the road from the farm to earn a little extra money for the holiday season. She also held a job at Ebenezer Nursing Home in Poulsbo and at the little grocery store in Brownsville. But her home was her calling. Her children remember with great fondness coming home from school on bread-baking day to a slice of freshly baked bread or a cinnamon roll.
Mom was a devout Christian and much of her life revolved around the church. For years, she sang alto in the church choir. She took piano lessons as a girl and would play, mostly for her own pleasure, at home. Another fond memory, is Mom playing either hymns or hit songs from the 40’s or 50’s while Dad stood at her shoulder and sang along.
Through the decades, the family grew. Mom had 10 grandchildren, Thor, Eric, Amy, Tom, Jason, Josh, Lisa, Sarah, Steven and Logan. That grew still more with addition of 12 great-grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband, Bud, her son, Steve, and two grandsons, Thor and Logan. She survived by her daughter, Nadine (Wes) Davis, and her sons Rick (Mary) Hansen, and Bruce (Helenann) Hansen.
A graveside burial service is planned for May 14, 2025 at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home at noon. Family and friends are invited. There will be a potluck to follow at Nadine and Wes Davis’s house.
