The world has lost a bright and shining star, but heaven has gained a most precious angel. She was taken June 9, 2010 after a courageous battle with lung cancer; however she was a life time non-smoker. Helen Bunola Sheaffer was born Jan. 17, 1923 in Princeton, KS to W. Frank and Bunola Belle Sheaffer. She was the 7th of 8 children. She was raised raised in Montrose, MO by her maternal grandmother, Ellen Clark and her beloved step-grandfather, “Uncle Wesley” Clark. Bee came to Bremerton when she was 17 and was able to secure a job at the downtown Bremerton post office, after fibbing about her age. She then set about creating a loving family environment for herself, which later extended to her husband and children, by befriending and being adopted by the Bessie McIninch family, the Norris Hunt “grandma and grandpa Hunt” family, the Hortense Dawson family and the Jim and Genny Snow family. Bee worked at the post office for 5 yrs, before meeting her true love, Louis Andrew Loos Jr. They were married on Oct. 22, 1945, a devoted union that lasted for 58 yrs, until we lost Lou on July 17, 2004. They always could be seen holding hands and were rarely apart. They continued writing love notes to each other everyday. After almost 5 yrs of anxious waiting, mother and dad were overjoyed to welcome Louis III and later Debra Lu to their family. She was absolutely devoted to her children! Mother enjoyed cooking big, delicious turkey dinners with all the trimmings for family holidays. She talked to Debi on her daily walks and later when she couldn’t leave the house she always thanked me for “taking her on my walks with me.” She also looked forward to her early morning Sat. and Sun. chats with Patrick. Her hobbies were doing crossword puzzles, eating Godiva Chocolates, watching Wheel of Fortune, Dancing with the Stars and Golden Girls. She took great pride in her ironing and having a “spotless” house. She prayed the entire Rosary everyday and called on St. Jude for many reasons. She is now back in dads loving arms so they can once again dance to “their song”, If I Loved You. Mother, we will miss you everyday and are forever grateful that you were a part of our lives! You will be in our hearts forever.
