On Monday, September 25, 2017, Helen Marie Jennings was called home to the Lord. Loved and cherished are just two of the words that begin to describe how family and friends feel about Helen. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother she always put others needs before her own. To say she will be greatly missed is the understatement of the century.
Born October 13, 1938 in Cornwall, New York to Herbert and Helen Jeheber, Helen was the oldest of three children. On May 19, 1961, she joined the airforce where she trained to become a nurse. Helen spent her life caring for others and spent the majority of her career caring for babies as an OB nurse in the Labor and Delivery ward at the Naval Hospital in Bremerton, Washington. A devout Catholic, Helen attended Prince of Peace in Belfair with her husband Frank. Helen loved to read, watch classic movies, Godzilla, Murder She Wrote, Scooby Doo, war movies, and vampire and werewolf movies. She enjoyed shopping, playing bridge, and most of all spending time with her family.
Helen is survived by her husband Frank Jennings, her children Daniel Newcomer, Jeff and Jill Newcomer, Rebecca Roff, Kristina Roff, Jessica, Kevin and Eloise Johnson, Steven, Doreen and Megan Newcomer, Kristina Newcomer, James and Jackie Newcomer, and Mark Newcomer. Her step-daughters Nancy and John Papo and Carol Braas. Her sister Debra Jeheber and brother Herbert (Duffy), Connie and Mikaela Jeheber.
Her funeral service will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Belfair, Washington on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10:15 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Hospital in honor of Helen.
