

Janis Rae Deitz Freeman of Bremerton passed away at home on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the age of 69. Janis was born in Bremerton, Washington on March 22, 1956, to Dan and Betty Deitz. She lived her entire life in Bremerton, where she attended George Dewey Jr. High and East High School.
Janis married Jerry Wagner and raised her son, Todd Deitz, in Bremerton. On August 7, 1993, she married Mark Freeman. They were married 32 years at his passing on September 1, 2025. Jan enjoyed fishing and camping. She was also very proud of her grandsons, and had a love for gardening, and for her beloved cats. Janis had been employed at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, and as a certified CNA and caregiver.
Jan is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Krista Deitz, and grandsons Karsten and Chase Deitz of Bonney Lake. She is also survived by her sisters and their husbands, Kathy and Chris Scheller of Tualatin, OR, and Sandy and Ernie Elton of Port Orchard; and niece Jennifer Sievers and sons Tyler and Gabriel, and nephew Ryan Schiller and his wife Emily of West Seattle. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Vicki Lynn Deitz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 30, 1:00 pm at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton. There will be a reception immediately after the service, followed by a private graveside service. Janis will be buried with Mark, near her parents at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park, 5505 Kitsap Way, Bremerton
