Jeffrey Partridge Eagleson passed away on October 1, 2026, after a battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and children. A proud East Coaster, Jeff was born November 8, 1955, in Newton, Massachusetts to Peter and Marguerite (Peggy) Eagleson. The youngest of three, Jeff grew up striving to be the best. He was wicked smart, graduating from Wellesley High School, and Ohio Wesleyan University, before earning a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University.
He followed the family tradition of playing baseball and football, but truly excelled at tennis, winning a national collegiate championship and working as a tennis pro on Nantucket. After graduating from Columbia, Jeff spent a year in Paris taking in the language and the culture. He wore many hats over the years, from Washington D.C. corporate lobbyist to restaurateur. In 1986, Jeff met and fell madly in love with Judy Mentor, his Bride, at a legendary St. Patrick’s Day party in D.C. Following a bicoastal courtship, Jeff and Judy married in Silverdale before moving to D.C., where their children, Jeffrey and Jenna were born. Shortly thereafter, they traded in the fast pace of D.C. for Judy’s hometown of Kitsap County. In 1996, Jeff and Judy opened the iconic JJ’s Fish House in Poulsbo. Ever the host, Jeff was the face of the restaurant, befriending employees and customers alike.
Jeff never wavered in his love for his family, close friends, the Boston Red Sox, and the New England Patriots. Witty, caring, and sharp as a tack, Jeff could talk his way through any room and finish the crossword in pen or in his head before most of us finished our morning coffee. If you ever heard “that’s a good word” from Jeff, it made your day. We are all lucky, and better, for having known him.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Peggy Eagleson. He is survived by Judy, his beloved wife of 38 years, his children, Jeffrey and Jenna, daughter-in-law Haley, sister Helen Kemp and her husband Dale, and brother Peter Eagleson and many extended family members.
Please join us in celebrating his life on October 18th, from 2 – 4pm at the Kitsap Golf & Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Poulsbo Fishline.
