Jerry Wagner (92) entered into eternal peace with his Lord, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025. Jerry was born September 19th, 1933, in Bremerton, Washington, to Warren E. and Mary Wagner. As a teenager he earned his Eagle Scout award and was able to travel to the National Scout Jamboree in 1950, in Valley Forge Pennsylvania. Jerry served in the Army beginning in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1956.
Jerry met Janet in Bremerton on a blind date. It went well! They were married shortly after, in 1957. The love they had for each other carried through 62 anniversaries. It was rare to see one without the other. Their marriage was always an example of devotion, love, and friendship. They took great joy in traveling together, gardening, sharing in their faith, church activities, and especially spending time with family.
Janet and Jerry raised three children together, all of whom have inherited their sense of adventure. Jerry had a special sense of humor, always delivered with a twinkle in his eye.
Early in their marriage, Jerry worked as an apprentice newspaper printer. He earned his journeyman status and began his printing career at The Everett Herald. He moved to a new position at Grange Printing. He and Janet moved to their home in Kenmore, where they would reside together for all their lives. He lived in this home for 62 years. When newspapers began to change and no longer needed typesetting, it was time for a new career. He pursued his real estate license and began his new career at LP Martin, later moving to Windermere Real Estate and becoming a broker. He spent many years there successfully matching clients, friends, and family to future homes. He took great pride especially in helping young people find their first home.
Jerry’s faith was a very strong, quiet faith. He shared his faith in how he lived. He was a member of Northlake Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Jerry’s greatest passions were assisting with affordable housing, helping with food insecurities, and caring for and supporting those who were unhoused. He volunteered for Hopelink, Lutheran Alliance to Create Housing, the food bank, delivered meals, and made sure the little pantries stayed supplied. It was his way of helping anyone who was in need. He said it just felt like it was what he was supposed to be doing. He would be proud to know his grandchildren share acts of kindness thinking, “That’s what Grandpa would do.”
He is survived by daughter Jeannine (Bill) Thurn; son Darrell (Donny Nguyen) Wagner; daughter Allison (Eric) Ebner; grandchildren Ethan (Kelly) Ebner, Aaron Ebner(Fabiola), Eric Ebner, Blake Ebner, and Elliana Ebner; great-grandchildren Evander, Caroline, Amaru, Marren, and Ignacio; sister Sylvia Hofmann; brother Dale (Shiping) Wagner; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet Wagner. What a joyful reunion in heaven it must be.
A graveside service will be held Friday, November 28th, 2025, at 11 a.m. in Bremerton, at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home for immediate family.
