Here are some pictures of our trip which John takes most every year to Maui, Hawaii at Christmas time!!!

Ah John, good memories of skiing ... One in particular where I caught an edge and went flying into the deep snow and deep shrubbery ... Ever concerned he asked if I was alright ... Yes I answered ... Good, he said cuz he's going to take pictures :) / Tony Eans ( S'no Joke Ski Club )

I will always fondly remember John.  In 1992, we took a month long ski trip, exploring ski areas in Idaho, Colorado and Utah.  We traveled together, skied together, ate together, and roomed together. We got along together fine and had a great trip.

We will miss John in so many ways.  Kind, gentle, thoughtful, non-judgmental, humorous, a lover of the outdoors, and a fabulous "natural-born" skier.  John made skiing look so easy, kept a low profile, and made sure the focus of skiing was to have fun. We have many wonderful memories of skiing with John, Don, and Merilee at Cyrstal Mountain, as well as several hikes to Camp Muir at Mt. Rainier.  John will be missed and remembered in our lives for a very long time.

John was the first person to invite us to the neighborhood when we bought our house. We came several time to look and he always came out to say hi and tell us good things about the neighborhood and even invited us over for dinner. John was always willing to offer his help when needed rather is be needing a jump or getting extra compose soil for the garden Or watching out on our house while we left town. It was a pleasure to get to know John, he is deeply missed.

I'm going to miss John after knowing him for so many years while working for the City of 
Seattle Transportation Dept  I will be forever grateful to him because he was one of the 3 people who interviewed and hired me.  I will miss all of the golfing we did
and all of the pictures he took on his camper trips(the scene see-er).  May God bless he and his family.  Love,  Kenny Wong

I met John while we both worked for the City of Seattle but, spent more time with John golfing.  We played a couple of months ago.  Will miss you John.    May God's peace give the family comfort during this time.  Bill Burns

Thank you for selling my little family the car you inherited upon the passing of your uncle on your Dad's side, John.  Though I was unused to driving on the country road in the rain, went over the center line, and caused a small accident, with everyone in the car (Steve, Greg, and Lorn), that car kept us safe because it was so well built.  So thank you, John, for selling me that car.  For this and for so many other reasons, particularly your directness, I will miss you.

We haven't seen John for a long time & we're shocked to hear of his passing. Our sincere condolences to his family. He was a very dear man.

I will miss John on the slopes of Crystal Mountain;  He always had a smile and a gentle manner.

A truly gentle soul who passed way too soon.

We had taken my in laws out to Sun Valley where Don, Merilee, and John met us out there. This was at the top of some Sun Valley lift where we all went for lunch. Year? We all had such a great day.

I'm so sorry to about the sudden passing of John. He was such a kind man and always had an interesting story to share.

Prayers of strength and comfort to the whole family.

Wow, the world has lost a first class guy who always shared his wonderful life through the camera lens.  All my best to his daughter and I hope she realizes how many people he has touched. The incredible photo he took of my dog, Cheyenne, is in my office and will be a forever reminder of John.

We've had some good times with John. Rich enjoyed skiing with him at Sun Valley. Hope he's having an eternal powder day.

Ena, Richard, Jim and the Hendrickson family, I loved John and will miss him terribly. He was a true friend by any definition of the word. Because of him I met and married Merilee. He taught me to ski and to teach skiing, We traveled to all the great ski areas and went heliskiing and attended the 1988 Winter Olympics. Hiking in the Olympics was one of his favorite things to do and we were planning on going more. Just last month he helped me buy a van to turn into a camper we were going to go to Alaska which he had photographed and explored. His travels took him around the country I think seven times. He would send me update along the way. Here is one from 2003 that is typical. "
                 Here I am in Great Falls Montana sitting at my table looking 
            out on a sunny 50F morning in October.   Thinking back on the past 
            couple of weeks I'm amazed at the good weather I've been thru. From 
            sunshine in Alaska for a month to sunshine throughout the 
            Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming and yes also in Glacier 
            National Park Montana.  I actually found myself driving toward a 
            cloud bank hooked on the front side of the mountains to get some 
            rain; which wasn't there; to wash the dirt and dust from Chinook.  I 
            found several neat high mountain, gravel, one lane, twisty, steep 
            roads not shown on most maps to follow.  I liked this better then 
            following the boring freeways or the usual red roads (red on maps).  
            Everywhere are these vibrant yellow leafed trees standing out 
            against dark evergreen tree, river or mountain backgrounds.
                 Bears have been tough to find.  Mostly prevalent and near me in 
            Alaska. In the Rocky Mountains they are still way up in the high 
            country where there is still plenty of food and no snow.  Elk, 
            Buffalo (Bison) and Mountain Goats were most accessible for me to 
            photograph. Scenery is magnificent needless to say.  I'm going to 
            miss these mountains as I now head East across th Prairies.
                 I have a lot of photos but they are too big.  When I get them 
            reduced in size I'll send more.
