Joneil (Whipkey) Snodgrass

Joneil (Whipkey) Snodgrass, age 85, of Bremerton, Washington passed away on Sunday June 7, 2020.

She was born Joneil Whipkey on June 15, 1934 in Erick, Oklahoma to Cecil Lee and Rachel Eunice Whipkey. She was the 2nd of 7 children, with 4 sisters: Billie Jean, Shirley, Charlotte, Cecilia and Ruth Ann, and 2 brothers: Philip and Rocky Lee.

Growing up in Modesto, California Joneil went to Modesto High graduating in 1952 where she lettered in the library class as an assistant.

After meeting the love of her life, Richard Amos Snodgrass, on July 14th 1955 they were married in her parents own backyard. They were blessed with 3 lovely children, Rhonda Gail, Ruth Lynn and Rickey Alan, 4 Grandchildren: Rebekah Lynn, Daniel Matthew, Jessica Jo and Stephen, 2 Great Grandchildren: Abe Harrison and Ava Jensen.

Joneil had many hobbies and pursuits including reading. sewing, crocheting, painting, games like crosswords and solitaire, thrift shopping and of course road trips to visit loved ones.

Oh and lets talk travel. Its hard to tell what her favorite was. The multiple trips to the Oregon Coast for Christmas with family or visiting relatives in

California, Colorado, Idaho, Oklahoma, and Washington, maybe the tug boat cruise in British Columbia or a stay in an Alaskan Fishing Village in Sitka. Perhaps the trip to the Butchart Gardens, a cross country sight seeing trip from Washington State to Maine or even one of the multiple trips to Hawaii.

She loved leisurely reading while lounging on the porch swing in the backyard planning her next road trip.

Joneil will be missed by her children Rhonda, and Ruth and Ruth's husband, Victor, her grandchildren, Rebekah, Daniel, Jessica and Stephen, and two great grand-children, Abe and Ava, two sisters, Charlotte and Shirley and two brothers, Phillip and Rocky.
