

Lori Jo passed away unexpectedly from natural causes September 14, 2011 in Apple Valley, CA, where she and her husband were making plans to move when retired, as the climate there is more forgiving to their medical conditions.
Lori Jo was born in Pensacola, Fl. to Walter Gerald and Jacquelyn Horton. Her father was in the Navy and retired in Bremerton in 1970. Lori attended Central Kitsap High School and was active in the Little Britches Rodeos with her horse “Toro”. She could be seen riding Toro in parades has the Sheriff’s Posse queen her junior year. She was well known and loved by many in the restaurant industry, having worked in various places throughout her life starting with her teen age years at the XXX in Silverdale which her parents owned. At one time she owned and operated her own restaurant in East Bremerton.
Lori Jo was married to Steven Hannawacker on December 2, 1979 in Bremerton at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Lori Jo, affectionately called Jo Jo by family and friends, is well remembered for her love of poetry and her remarkable talent as an artist. Jo Jo was very outgoing and well-loved for her giving nature. Lori also greatly enjoyed gardening (especially roses), cooking and decorating. One of her favorite past times was going to garage sales looking for antiques but she never lost her love of horses which she has passed onto her daughter.
Lori Jo is survived by her husband Steven, daughter Bridget, stepson Rob; her parents Walter and Jacquelyn Horton; two sisters Jacquelyn Ann and Leslie Horton; a brother Walter Mark Horton; two nieces; four nephews; two great nieces; four aunts and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents George and Myrtle Perkins, Walter T. Horton and Estelle Spillers; three aunts and one uncle.
A memorial service will be held at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home, 5505 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association. Please visit Jojo’s memorial page at www.miller-woodlawn.com.
