Lynn Haun of Silverdale, Washington passed away unexpectedly May 9, 2016. She was born February 3, 1950 in Redding, CA to Earnest and June Munson. She had one brother, Terry Munson, who passed away in 1990. She graduated from Shasta High School in 1968 and attended Shasta College before moving to San Francisco with friends. She was married to William Haun on March 23, 1972 in Bozeman, MT. They had two children, Alexys and Brandon. The family lived in Vacaville, California for many years and moved to Kitsap County in 1995. Lynn was widowed in 1998 when Bill lost his life in an auto accident.
Lynn had a natural aptitude for working with children. She was an active volunteer in the schools and was viewed by many as “mom.” When Alexys and Brandon were young, one of the family jokes was that she spent as much time at school as they did. As teenagers, their many of their friends were permanent fixtures in the basement family room. After Alexys and Brandon became adults, Lynn worked as a visitation supervisor for Compassionate Foster Care in Bremerton. She enjoyed her clients and made a positive impact on children and families who were in times of crisis. In 2009 Lynn officially retired to focus on being a grandmother. She was a grandmother to four young children: Chloe, Hendrix, Cash, and Kamden. She always could be counted upon to have crayons or a Hot Wheels car in her purse for the kids. Lynn was a kind and generous person who was always willing to take the time to listen and make a person feel valued.
Lynn enjoyed her friends and had many hobbies as well. She maintained lifelong friendships even over a long distance. She enjoyed vacationing with friends, especially cruise vacations, with Alaska as a favorite destination. She recently vacationed in California visiting with a friend she has known for over 50 years. Lynn also enjoyed animals. When the family still lived in California, Lynn purchased a yearly membership to Marine World, Africa, USA and the family visited often, sometimes weekly. She especially enjoyed watching the Bengal Tigers and Orcas. After moving to Kitsap County, she was able to see Orcas from her deck when the pod would swim into the inlet which she thoroughly enjoyed. Lynn was an active member of her church, Central Valley Christian Fellowship. Additionally, she enjoyed being a member of a local group of the Red Hat Society. The things that Lynn enjoyed the most were simple pleasures with friends and family.
Lynn Haun is survived by her daughter Alexys, son-in-law Jeff and their two children Chloe and Kamden, and also by son Brandon, daughter-in-law Christine and their two children Hendrix and Cash. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Central Valley Christian Fellowship in Bremerton, Washington at 10:00. Lynn will be buried with her husband at Lawncrest Memorial Park in Redding, California on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10:00.
