Maria Louisa Pilapil departed from us peacefully on April 10, 2020. She was born in Cebu City, Philippines, was the oldest of 7 children, and survived the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War II.
She married Ernesto Pilapil in Manila, Philippines and then immigrated to the United States after her husband enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During his military service, the couple lived in Mississippi, California, and Washington state. After Ernesto retired, they settled in the city of Bremerton, Washington to raise their family.
Maria Louisa was a certified accountant and gave 21 years of federal service to the Comptroller Department of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She was proud of Filipino heritage and was an active member and former president of the Visayan Club of Kitsap County.
Maria Louisa loved bingo, spending time with her grandchildren, and eating ice cream-especially Klondike Bars.
Maria Louisa was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ernesto, and is survived by her children Edwin Pilapil (Jolita), Madeline Moy (Baron), and her grandchildren Morena, Lucas, Emonni, and Kaleigha.
Maria Louis was laid to rest on May 8 at a private ceremony at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park. Once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, her family and friends hope to gather to celebrate Maria Louisa's life.
