Marian Margaret Ross

She was born in Bremerton on December 30, 1945 to Agnes and John Clifford Haugland. After graduating from East Bremerton High School in 1964, Marian began her higher education at Olympic Community College and eventually earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Saint Cabrini Hospital in Seattle in 1968. Her nursing career, which started at Doctors Hospital in Seattle, took her to San Bernardino then back to the Puget Sound, finally ending at Purdy Correction Facility.

On August 29, 1970, she married John Robert Ross in Cle Elum, WA. Marian loved traveling, enjoyed reading in the sun, working on her crafts, gardening, shopping, exercising, researching nutrition and genealogy, and spending time with her friends, family and dachshunds.

Survivors include her husband, John of Olalla; two daughters, Michelle Durant and her husband, Shane of Klamath Falls, OR and Angela Birdsall and her husband, Kevin of Silverdale, WA; and four grandchildren: Masen, Devon Sherman, Tyler and Casey.

Marian leaves many friends and family who will forever remember her hugs, generosity, laughter and smile. She is preceded in death by her father, mother and brother.

A celebration of Marian’s life will be held at Miller-Woodlawn on March 25 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her name to her favorite charity, the ALS Association (www.alsa.org/donate).
