Marie E Alleger

Known far and wide as either ‘Dolly’ or ‘Momo’, Marie was born on July 23,1937 in Stewart, Minnesota to Bernard ‘Jack’ and Stella Brodigan. The fifth of six children, Marie was named for her mother’s twin sister, Evelyn Marie.

Marie grew up in Bremerton, WA where she attended Bremerton High School. Marie married her high school sweetheart, with whom she had four children-after which she worked tirelessly as a mother and homemaker. Later, Marie pursued a career in real estate.

In a subsequent marriage, Marie married Dr. Carl Alleger (aka Popo) of Silverdale and remained in love with him, after his death in 1993. Marie’s favorite place on earth was their cabin at Neah Bay, WA. This has become a special place for multiple generations of their family. Marie was able to visit the cabin one last time during a wonderful trip with her dear friend Ann Guiney, just weeks prior to her death.

Known as Momo to her grandchildren, Marie loved attending church and her relationship with Jesus. She also loved cooking for her family and friends - often cooking so much food one wondered if there was a second family somewhere in the house. In addition, Marie loved salmon fishing with Popo, doll making and collecting, and photographs. Giving gifts was Momo’s number one pastime. Above all, Marie loved her family.

Marie is survived by her daughters Jeri Taylor (Curt) Swade of North Bend, WA; Cheri (Steven) Sidhu of Las Vegas, NV; by her sons Brian (Patti) Alleger of Redmond, WA; Mark (Melanie) Alleger-Herndon of Grand Coulee, WA; and Craig (Bona) Herndon of Moses Lake, WA; her sister Patricia Carlson of Bremerton, WA, her brother David Brodigan of Wooten Lake; her grandchildren Joshua Taylor, Stephanie Wall, Zack Sidhu, Jason Alleger, Jared Alleger, Greg Alleger, Anna Alleger, Jeddie Herndon, Reagan Herndon, Reniff Herndon and Breanne Thiel; her dear friend Ann Guiney; 11 (and counting) great-grandchildren; her nephews Bob Carlson, Michael Brodigan; John Missey, Skip Missey and Bernard Brodigan, and her nieces Madonna Carlson, Michelle Carlson Renae and Deanna Maesner; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Carl Alleger of Silverdale, WA; her parents Jack and Stella Brodigan of Bremerton; and her brothers Jerome, Norbert, and Gerald, all of Kitsap County.
