

Marlyn Kay Carlson passed away on February 27, 2022 in Silverdale, Washington. Marlyn was born April 26, 1937 in Bozeman, Montana to George A. and Janice (Jeffers) Minder. They lived in West Yellowstone, Montana for a time where her father owned a meat cutting business.
At the age of 5 they made their move west during World War II to a booming Bremerton, Washington where she lived the rest of her life.
Marlyn graduated from Bremerton High in 1955. She attended the University of Washington.
She married her high school sweetheart William James Carlson in 1956.
She was Miss Bremerton/Armed Forces Day Queen in 1955. She was very involved in PTA and was a recipient of the Golden Acorn Award. She was the first female member of the Bremerton Athletic Roundtable (BAR). She was an avid sports fan especially the Huskies, Seahawks, and Mariners. During the early years she could be seen keeping score at slow pitch games, watching a horse show, a wrestling match, or watching "THE PRIDE OF PUGET SOUND" marching band.
Marlyn was the bookkeeper and owner in the early days of Minder Meats and Groceries on South Cambrian Ave, but for the most part she was a stay-at-home mom until everyone graduated. She went to work at the Bremerton School District where she retired.
She is preceded in death by her parents George and Janice Minder. 4 Uncles: John, Joe, Harold, and Jimmy. 6 Aunts: Florence, Elsie, Alma, Dorothy, Betty, and Beulah, and her Uncle Myron and Aunt Eloise Jeffers.
Also preceding her passing, her husband of 60 years, Jim. She is survived by 3 children, sons James and Steven of Bremerton, and a daughter Kristin Tweten of Tacoma. One grandson, the light of her life, Connor of Bozeman, Montana as well as many cousins. And one surviving Aunt, Carolyn Minder of Poulsbo. Also her oldest and dearest friends Pat Eathorne, Jacki Thacker, and Donna Gay Boyle. Thanks to all the caregivers at Laurel Glen Senior Living. She was happy there. Also, to the staff at St. Michael's Hospital.
Marlyn's unbridled passion for life left a lasting impact on others. Her laugh and enthusiasm were contagious to anyone around her.

Marlyn's private graveside service will be at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park on Saturday, March 12 at 11:00am. There will be a celebration of life hosted at the Kitsap Golf and Country Club in Bremerton on Sunday, March 13 at 2:00pm.
