

Maryann Sheme (77) of Riverside, CA died March 18, 2017 of a massive stroke. She was born in Oak Lawn Illinois to Walter M. Sr. and Anna (Kletze) Joyce. Her parents proceeded her in death, also 3 brothers; Walter M. Jr, Raymond E. and Edward Joyce and one sister, Alice Evans. Her husband, Jerry M. Sheme also proceeded her on January 14, 1999.
Surviving is her daughter, Shirley Ann Miller and son-in-law, Lawrence Miller of Riverside, CA. Maryann leaves behind one brother Tommy Joyce and his wife Marge Joyce of Phoenix, AZ.
Maryann moved to Southern California in the early 1960's to finish her education. She graduated with an RN degree from Golden West College in 1976. She worked at the Huntington Beach Hospital in the CCU. She later graduated from Cal-State Fullerton University in 1986.
In June of 1986, Maryann moved with her husband to Bremerton, WA., which she called "God's Country." For 25 years, Maryann worked at Kitsap Recovery Center in East Bremerton retiring in October 1, 2004. Maryann was an avid reader of Stephen Kings' books, Native American Culture, archeology and anthropology.
Most of all, she was a lover of nature and animals (she called them her children). She once had a total of six dogs and had to get a kennel license from the county. They were all greatly loved.
Friends are invited to attend the visitation Friday, March 31st 11AM to 1PM at the Miller-Woodlawn Chapel. Funeral Services 1PM with interment to follow at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park. She will be placed near her husband and mother-in-law, Della Bouffard.
