

Mercedes Lacanlale Villarubia passed away February 11, 2014 (age 94) at the Bremerton Naval Hospital in Bremerton, WA. She was born to Pelayo and Timothia Lacanlale on April 22, 1919 in Pampanga, Philippines. At the young age of 10, Mercedes was entrusted by her father to become the caretaker of her young siblings upon her mother's passing. Throughout her life, Mercedes kept her siblings together. Her devotion and love to her siblings ultimately resulted in helping them through the hardships of life. Mercedes selflessly shared her possessions to help family and loved ones to succeed. Although Mercedes did not want to be separated from her children, she sacrificed sending them to the United States. This consequently gave opportunity to some of her relatives to migrate to the United States.
She is survived by her children: Yeng Sr. and wife Pacita, Isaias and wife Casiana, and former Emmanuel and Maxine; Janice; thirteen grandchildren: Yeng II and wife Gennie, Crystal and fiancé James, Daryl, Kevin, Lilian and husband Gary, Erwin, Charlie, Susan and husband Floyd, Christine, Sherri, and Manny Jr., Gabriel, Philips; and seven great-grandchildren: Gary Jr., Jayda, Cassie, Sophia, Marla, Boaz, and Enalei.
Funeral viewing will be held on Thursday & Friday 4pm-8pm, 20-21 February 2014.
Mercedes’ life will be celebrated 11am on Saturday, February 22, 2014 and burial at 1pm.
All funeral services will be held at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home, 5505 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, WA.
